Oru Naal Varum Release stayed


The Kozhikode District Court on Wednesday issued an injunction order till May 31 staying the release, distribution and screening of Mohanlal-Sreenivasan's much-awaited Oru Naal Varum, slated for release this Friday.

District judge M.P. Ismail issued the order on the basis of a petition moved by a teacher, K.V. Vijayan of the Don Bosco Institute, Mukkom, seeking a stay on the film as actor Sreenivasan had allegedly used the original script penned by K.V. Vijayan long ago. Summons have also been issued to the film's script writer Sreenivasan, director T.K. Rajeev Kumar and producer Manian Pillai Raju to appear before the court on May 31.

It is said that the script was handed over to Sreenivasan last year, who rejected it, saying it lacked comedy. Vijayan produced before the court a copy of the script published as a book in February and a copy of Sreenivasan's interview that had appeared in a magazine narrating the story of the film. Only lately had Vijayan come to know that a film had been made based on his story. Several film magazines had come out with the storyline of the film that had a resemblance to his script, he said in his petition.

It is noteworthy that Sreenivasan had earlier run into a controversy after Sathyendran Poyilkkavu, a resident of Koyilandy in Kozhikode, accused the actor of ‘stealing' his story for the hugely successful Katha Parayumbol, which was remade in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

Oru Naal Varum postponed to June 25

Mohanlal-Sreenivasan teams TK Rajiv Kumar directed Manian Pillai Raju produced Oru Naal Varum, which was to release on May 14 has now been postponed to June 25!

The producer of the film Raju told sify.com: “Too many films released last Friday (May 7), and there is acute theatre shortage. We thought of delaying it by a week to May 21, but monsoon is due in Kerala in the last week of May. After consulting the trade we have now decided to release the film on June 25.”

The buzz around Oru Naal Varum, is very positive and censors who have passed it with a clean ‘U’ certificate are said to be raving about it.

The producer and distributor Damor films have taken a good decision to postpone the film to June 25, as they will get a solo release and best of screens.

Suraj to sing for Sakudumbam Shyamala Movie


After becoming a popular hero in movies, the most popular comedian of Mollywood, Suraj Venjaramoodu, will try a hand behind the mic, doing a playback.


He will lend his voice for a new song in the movie 'Sakudumbam Shyamala' directed by Radhakrishnan Mangalathu .Singer turned music director M G Sreekumar will offer Suraj his tunes set for a humorous song of the movie .

Scripted by Krishna Poojappura, the movie stars Urvashy, Kunchakko Boban and Bhama apart from Suraj Venjaramoodu of course.

M G Sreekumar who had been the music director to National award winning Tamil movie 'Kancheevaram', had recently composed the music for 'Oru Naal Varum', the new Rajeev Kumar film which is all set to reach the theatres, this month. Interestingly, M G Sreekumar has made Mohanlal to sing a song for this film as well.

Pregnant Sameera Reddy and Mohanlal in Oru Naal Varum!

Mohanlal and Sameera play Sukumaran and Meera, the love birds in the TK Rajeev Kumar-directed Oru Naal Varum.

Recently, a song in which Sameera is pregnant was canned by the director. The song tuned and sung by MG Sreekumar was shot by cameraman Manoj Pillai for producer Manianpilla Raju.

Mohanlal croons for another hit


Megastar Mohanlal has been instrumental in selecting sings for himself to sing, which has the potential to become chart toppers. From his songs in ‘Chithram’, the superstar has been able to convert a dozen of songs into super hits. Last year his hit song as a playback singer was “Annarakanna Vaa” from ‘Bhramaram’, which is the favorite of many, even today.

For 2010, Mohanlal has selected a song for his new movie 'Oru Naal Varum’ and has lended his voice to it. The song which goes like ''Nathoone, Nathoone'' is penned by poet Murukam Kattakkada and is set to music by playback singer M G Sreekumar.

This is the third film of M G Sreekumar as a music director in Malayalam. He had been appreciated for his musical scores for the National award wining Tamil movie ‘Kancheevaram’.

'Oru Naal Varum' scripted by Sreenivasan features Sameera Reddy as the heroine. The movie will be completed in a single schedule which will get on till the last week of April.

‘Oru Naal Varum’ by June

One of the greatest pairs of Mollywood cinema, Mohanlal and Sreenivasan, had been immensely successful in creating superhits whenever they were pitted against each other. Their blockbuster movies like Gandhi Nagar 2nd Street, Sanmanasullavarkku Samadhanam, Varavelppu, Nadodikattu, Pattana Pravesham, Vellanakalude Nadu, Thenmavin Kombathu, Chandralekha, Kilichundan Mambazham and Udayananu Tharam had been also listed as the new age classics of Malayalam cinema.

And when they are once again coming together for a new movie in the title of ‘Oru Naal Varum’, expectations are quite high. Planned to get completed in a single schedule, the movie will get to theatres by the month of June. The movie directed by T K Rajeevkumar in the scripts of Sreenivasan, will feature Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy as the heroine.

The glamorous star who is debuting into Mollywood with this movie, has made a extremely good opinion at the sets with her modest attitudes and maneuvers. A workaholic, she was found to be extremely busy at the sets preparing herself for the next shot, by learning dialogues in advance. The actress who is also thrilled to play the role of Mohanlal's wife finds her charter to be too realistic and believable and admits that she finds learning Malayalam easier than Tamil, due to her maternal roots in Kerala.

Mohanlal-Sameera Reddy Oru Naal Varum Stills, Photos


Sameera Reddy is paired opposite Mohanlal in his new film Oru Naal Varum, which is written by Sreenivasan and directed by T K Rajeev Kumar.

Sameera Reddy in Oru Naal Varum Movie


Sameera Reddy won the hearts of millions in the South with her tantalizing performance as Meghna in Suriya's Vaaranam Aayiram. She was later seen in Aasal opposite Thala Ajith. Now the Bollywood babe is getting ready to debut in Malayalam opposite super star Mohanlal in Oru Naal Varum. The actress is currently shooting at the backwaters of Kerala for the film. The actress described Kerala as a 'breathtaking place' in her Twitter page recently.

Sameera was also seen for a few seconds in the Simbu-Trisha starrer Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Sources say that the actress will soon be in Chennai to continue work on her untitled thriller directed by Gautham Menon.

"That shot you see is from my upcoming Tamil thriller that’s being directed by Gautham Menon," said the actress to a leading English daily.

Mohanlal & Mammootty move closer


The fans of Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal may not see eye to eye, but their idols are getting closer.

They have come together to fight the common enemy the veteran actor Thilakan who has been a thorn in their flesh.

Thilakan has been making some wild and unsubstantiated allegations against them. He has been able to get the support of the so called “left intellectuals” like Sukumar Azhikode and Punathil Kunjabdulla. Azhikode had criticized Mohanlal' for doing commercial endorsements for a popular jewelery brand and made a “dumb” remark that Mammootty had got Rs 5 crore to do Pazhassi Raja!

Noted novelist Punathil Kunjabdulla, went one step ahead and said at a literary forum that: “Thilakan is one of the most distinguished actors in the world, and before him Mammootty and Mohanlal are nothing!” The irony of it is that both Azhikode and Punathil hardly know anything about cinema or the contribution that M & M has made to Malayalam films.

There was a sustained campaign to tarnish the image of M & M by these so called “intellectuals” as they blindly supported Thilakan in his crusade against the stars. Please note some vested interests in Malayalam film industry are also behind this smear campaign against the superstars.

Meanwhile the two superstars met “accidentally” at the picturesque Panangad Choice Gardens on the backwaters near Kochi. Mohanlal and Mammootty were shooting there for their forthcoming films Christian Brothers and Pramani respectively. During the one hour post lunch meet the stars without any aides discussed about the “Thilakan threat to topple them”.

Mohanlal in an earlier interview to a newspaper had come to the defense of Mammootty by saying that he would never snatch a role from Thilakan. Later Mohanlal in an interview to a television channel said that he had rung up Azhikode and asked him to back off and leave him alone and not drag him into unnecessary controversies. And regarding Azhikode’s statement, that Thilakan and Mohanlal had expressed a desire to hold talks to solve the raging controversy the star made it clear that he had never expressed such willingness.



And as far as Azhikode's criticism that he is cashing in on his fame and popularity by doing commercial endorsements, Mohanlal shot back: "I told him to leave me alone as all stars including Amitabh Bachchan endorses products. I see Azhikode’s ranting against me and Mammootty, as those made by an old man.”

Sameera Reddy signs another Malayalam film


Actress Sameera Reddy, whose only South Indian film was Vaaranam Aayiram, recently signed Casanova opposite Mohanlal. She is now doing another film, Oru Naal Varum with Mohanlal where she will be playing his wife. The film is directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar and is written by actor/director Sreenivasan. The film is about an ordinary man who only dreams to build his house but is a victim of the corruption around him. The film will go on floors in Thiruvananthapuram on February 14th.

Sameera’s performance in Tamil film Vaaranam Aayiram opposite Suriya was appreciated. She is now awaiting the release of her other Tamil film, Asal opposite Ajith.

Oru Naal Varum - Mohanlal's new movie

After dropping the project titled ‘Breaking News’, ace director T K Rajeev Kumar had been in a long wait to grab one opportunity to be in the centre of Mollywood commercial cinema.

The latest news is that, he has actually clinched one new project that may propel him back into big activity.

The new movie directed by him will be titled as ‘Oru Naal Varum’. The movie will feature Superstar Mohanlal in the lead. Manian Pillai Raju will produce the movie in his home banner. Sreenivasan who will act in a pivotal role in the movie will also script this film.

It is after a long internal that Mohanlal is back in the scripts of Sreenivasan. One of their last big hits was ‘Ayaal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu’ which came almost a decade ago.

Mohanlal - Sreenivasan team up..





Mohanlal and Sreenivasan are perhaps one of the greatest pair in Malayalam cinema when they are pitted against each other on screen with most of the time, Sreenivasan writing the dialogues.

Who can forget classics like- Gandhi Nagar 2nd Street, Sanmanasuullavarku Samadhanam, Varavelpu, Nadodi Kattu, Pattana Pravesham, Vellanakulde Nadu, Thenmavin Kombathu, Chandralekha, Kilichundan Mambazham, Udayananu Tharam ?

Priyadarshan in a recent interview said: “ I would say that Lal and Srini are perfect foil to each other in stories where they are like Tom and Jerry cartoon characters, always trying to do their one-man upmanship game. The combo clicked because there was a lot of give and take in their on screen relationship, which appealed to the audiences.”

The combo had churned out many hits under various directors like Sathyan Anthikad, Priyadarshan and Roshan Andrews. Now one of their old producer’s comedian Manian Pillai Raju is making a film with them after 20 years.

Raju had produced the combo’s Vellanaakulde Nadu, with Shobhana as heroine under the direction of Priyadarshan who is now remaking it in Hindi as Khatta Meeta with Akshay Kumar and Trisha.

The Mohanlal- Sreenivasan deadly duo will be directed by Rajeev Kumar in the all new film produced by Manian Pillai Raju and titled Oru Naal Varum (One day it will come).

The one line story of the film- Mohanlal is a farmer who has sold everything in his village and comes to Thiruvananthapuram for the further education of his children. He buys a plot of land and wants to build a house in the city.

After drawing the plan of his new house Mohanlal submits it to the Town Planning officer (Sreenivasan) at the Corporation office. Mohanlal’s trouble begins from then on…

Oru Naal Varum is likely to be Mohanlal’s big Onam 2010 release.
