Happy with Alexander - Murali Nagavalli

Though his new movie 'Alexander The Great' is not creating any big surprises at the Box Office, the director of the movie Murali Nagavally says that he is quite happy with the way the movie has turned out into. “'Alexander The Great’ is not a masala film. It’s a wakeup call to our filmmakers and the audience to start thinking different”, points out Murali who had been with the industry for the last three decades as the most busiest associate director. “The initial lack of publicity has affected the movie's opening prospects much, and many fans were in the notion that this was an out and out action movie. But as of now the takers has increased in volume and in some places they have started showing the movie in two centers''.

Murali had been asked to approach the theme of the film, which is inspired from Oscar winner 'Rain Man' in a risky way, not the narrative style usually  preferred by mass masala ones, admits Murali “But I like to take the risk and do films that don’t get categorised into a particular genre like thriller, comedy, horror or action.”

‘Alexander The Great’ is the second movie from Murali Nagavally, as an independent director. His debut film was ‘Wanted’ with young faces in which Mohanlal came up in a guest role. Murali Nagavally is the brother of senior actor, director and screenplay writer Venu Nagavally.
