I am involved in marketing Margates’ Centenary celebrations and a number of SA Beauty Queens had their first experience or one of their early experiences in Beauty Pageants while holidaying in Margate. Penny Coelen’s first pageant experience was at the Hibiscus Festival May Queen pageant in 1958. I have been told that Diana Tilden Davis, Janine Botbyl and others have had a similar experience.
We are celebrating the history of Margate and have registered for 3 Guinness Record attempts: 2 are confirmed and 1 is pending. We are also hosting Africa Bike Week and last year we had 4200 Harley’s in a single procession.

This year we plan to do the following in 1 weekend:
*Most bikinis on a beach in a photoshoot – we need to beat the current record just short of 3000;
*Most motorbikes in a single parade; and
*Most past & present Beauty Queens (Hibiscus Queen/Miss Hibiscus) at a single event.
All attempts are linked to our Margate Centenary Event, and as you can imagine these record attempts will create an enormous amount of publicity for the event.
Your assistance in this regard will be great.
